The high-performance cutting material Tiger▪tec® Silver from
Walter>
AG, which is manufactured using the PVD process and was originally
only available for the new generation of Blaxx mills and for
grooving, is now offered for all milling operations. It is
characterised by a high level of hardness, toughness and heat
resistance and is particularly suitable for stainless materials and
materials with difficult cutting properties.
The user benefits from a significantly increased cutting speed and
longer tool life. The particular benefit of aluminum oxide lies in
its heat resistance. The new Tiger▪tec® Silver coating with the
grade designation WSM 35S envelops the indexable insert like a heat
protection blanket, making the insert particularly suitable for
stainless materials and materials with difficult cutting properties,
which generate a lot of heat during machining. The high level of
toughness already provided by the Tiger▪tec® predecessor generation
is retained in the new generation, while it was also possible to
improve the high-temperature wear resistance of the cutting tool
material even further. The higher level of hardness of the new
coating also has a positive effect on tool life. With the Tiger•tec®
process, a special post-treatment is also used to produce a smooth
rake face, as a result of which friction is reduced. WSM35S is
especially suitable for use in aircraft and automotive production as
well as in offshore operations. |
